B & F TECHNICAL CODE SERVICES, INC., REMINDS ILLINOIS DEVELOPERS, MUNICIPALITIES NEW STATE ENERGY CODES GO INTO EFFECT

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — B & F Technical Code Services, Inc., reminds municipalities, building designers and developers that the new Illinois State Energy Code goes into effect April 8, 2006. All new commercial buildings and all commercial buildings undergoing renovations, alterations, repairs, or construction of an addition requiring a building permit must adhere to the specifications of the new code.

“By adopting the International Energy Conservation Code, the State of Illinois is taking a proactive stand to reduce our energy costs and reduce pollution,” said Richard A. Piccolo, president of B & F Technical Code Services, Inc.

The International Energy Conservation Code establishes minimum design and installation standards for a building’s lighting, windows, walls, roofs, insulation, HVAC, and other building systems.

Third party building and fire code consultants, such as B & F Technical Code Services, Inc., are adding the IECC specifications to their service menus.

“We are offering to check buildings’ energy envelopes as part of our standard plan review services,” said Piccolo. “And, for those individuals who require a complete energy code review, we will be offering these services a la carte.”
